It's time I order some new tires for racing at Plattekill. I'm wondering what to get, I've been running Maxxis Mobster 2.5 SR front and rear. But am willing to try any other tire.

So what's your favorite race tire for Plattekill's terrain?

if you get minions get the 2.7 and that only. the smaller sizes pack up like nothing

I like any 2.5 Maxxis tire, I use a 2.7 up front if the course has big square hits in fast sections.
I also use the high roller almost all of the time

I've always liked the Minion 2.7 Super Tacky's. but I'm using a Kenda Blue Groove 2.7 Stick-E that I got at MBW, and I'm pretty impressed!

I have not raced at Plattekill but I have ridden it many of times. And I have found that I really like the Maxxis Minions and the Nokian NBX's.

The combination that I ended up using was the Maxxis Minion 2.7 on the front and the Nokian NBX 2.5 on the back. This combo seemed to hook up with everything!

Good luck on what ever you choose!

there are alot of tires people run at platty. Some are heavier than others. I now have an intense dh front sr and a minion 2.7 r. This is just cuz I dont have the money. When i get the money I'll probobly get a 2.5 60 douro r. and a 2.7 minion front.
Other popular tires at platty...
Kenda Nevegal
Michelin Comp 32
Kenda Blue Groove
Maxxis High Roller

Well I've just been handed a set of Kenda Blue Groove 2.5's to try out for the weekend, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they work out at Plattekill.

All maxxiss ST's are awesome. If your used to the way ST's feel, then minions are the way to go. If your not sure and almost never have a clean run, get the Mobsters. Supertacky is the shit though!
