Some people have complained about Plattekill's first race being on Mothers Day so we wanted to move it to May 14th and 15th. Of course this caused more complaining from the other side of the board that argues too much is going on the 14th and 15th already. Plattekill wants riders feedback. Race on mothersday and deal with the extra choclate and flowers you have to buy or race on the 14th and 15th. Voice your thoughts now. We are trying to be open to rider feedback. Do not bitch and moan your thoughts after the fact. If you have thoughts on it say it now or deal with the choice that your fellow riders make. Whats it going to be?

Here's the bottom line.

You can't make everyone happy so don't bother trying. If Laz wants a larger turnout, then scheduling over mother's day is probably the better idea. This way the date is only conflicting with ONE other date…mother's day. If you keep the race on 14th and 15th, as it's currently scheduled, you can expect at least a 50% decrease in riders.

May 8th weekend:

• Plattekill is the only real mountain open for lift accessed riding
• Plattekill is the only mountain holding a full blown DH race
• Guys are ITCHING to get out and ride

May 15th weekend:

• Diablo opening weekend
• Another DH race scheduled in the North East

Do the math.

I also would URGE Laz to have both lifts spinning for this race SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. A lot of guys will come freeride if this is the case. He's consistently losing business when this isn't the case…during race weekends that is.

We are already committed to the mid-atlantic race in Virginia, same day. Too bad we were planning on the 8th being our first time at Platty. Oh well, guess we will just have to make it june.

My vote is for May 8th.......i already emailed and told Laz. Lazlo said he got a ton of emails on both sides of the fence. My reason is because i was planning on doing the Massenutten race on the 14th........thats a fun race.

And yes he needs to have BOTH lifts running on race weekends.....people love it when he does that........makes for an awesome weekend......

i say put it on the 8th because i have finals on the 16th and 17th. if my parents found out i went to the race instead of studying they would be a little mad, to say the least.

Personally, i would have liked it opening weekend, april 30. and may1st. Now it looks like i just created more problems with my wife by telling her that the race moved to May 14, 15. I thought mothers day weekend would be a huge problem with my wife, but it turned out it isnt.

There will be a big turnout on mothers day it appears. I figured most people wouldnt be able to make it due to there is no excuse to not be with mom. last year, we all could blow off our dad on fathers day....its not like hed care. But the moms are different.

I'll be at plattekill what ever day is chosen.

The 8th is a deff choice for me, for moms that are cool with racing... hook you moms up with some flowers before you leave and your set. PLUS its supposed to be a killer weekend, it will be the only place open in the area and it dose not conflict with any races.... sounds like an easy decision to me.

my down south craw-daddies are commited to Massanutten that weekend.... my uptown hooligans are headed to Diablo for pre USO'Sho throwdowns.

I say keep it the 8th in the name of healthy competiton and rider attendance.

So far no one has voiced their thoughts about why it should NOT be on Mothers day. Speak now or loose your voice and deal with it being on Mothers day.

I wanted the race date changed, but not it is too friggen late for a change. I already made all the arrangments so I CAN go on mother's day.

the only thing I am pissed about now is that I will not have my new bike for the race

the only woman that I have to please on mothers Day is the mother of my children and she wants the May race to be on Mothers Day! She goes to all the races and my kids are my pit crew (washing and cleaning the bike and the other gets the food ready and keeps the beer cold). Keep it on the 8th, the following w/e is Diable opening, next weekend is the race at MC and the weekend after that is the USopen........4 w/e's in a row WITH an excuse for riding.....I vote for May 8th.

Ok so people have expressed their thoughts and we are moving it back to original date. First race weekend at Plattekill will be May 8th. Sorry for the craziness. We heard some feedback from riders about the 8th not working so we wanted feedback about changing the date. I know this process seems painful for some but we are learning from it and making changes. Team Plattekill is forming and gaining ground so please bare with us as we get up to speed. Thanks for your support and hope to see you on the mountain.
