So, Mtn Creek has done a shit load in the last month to new and existing trails, what has plattekill done? Lazlo promised us all a true DH course for this month. Weather will be perfect this month for a fast, technical course. Any word on the triple chair opening again? We were promised to be able to have races on that side of the mtn. I hope that holds true. It sucks to always have to hike a bike to ride Ledges, Unholy, and Da Bomb. Any word on if the mtn X course has been built? The freeride trail was supposed to be finished, and I believe that the first race would have been scheduled for this month. Guess its not going to happen. I love Plattekill to death, but they just arent stepping up to the plate this year. The bar has been raised by Mtn Creek, to a level that may be unattainable by Plattekill. They need that second lift open to make more trails available to riders.

nope, they rarely send beginners off drops over like 4 ft and 99.9% of the time there is always a way around a drop.

see just a little update on the ole plattekill site would be nice, once in a while. there is an update on the diablo site everyday. plattekill's goes dormant for weeks on end sometimes. we just need to get the excitement back at plattekill and hearing of a huge drop on the race course may just bring back the spark!

Well I was at Plattekill July 4th weekend.
As far as I am concerned Plattekill is the BEST place to ride even with the little problems people are complaning about.
Even with only ONE lift running there are about 50 more miles of trails than Mountain Creek. MC has done a good job no argument there. But the options at Plattekill make it worth the extra drive time. As for having to climb to the other side it is no big deal even with all the DH protection on.
After all it is called freeriding and for all you racers it just keeps you in better shape!
What makes Plattekill great is the Natural terrain. The Drops the Steeps the chutes and the seclusion of the mountain all make Plattekill #1 in my book.
No matter how hard MC tries to Dress up what little they have it will never amount to Plattekill.
Please note I do NOT want to get into a Pissing contest with anybody over this. I am just giving my opinion.
What makes Plattekill great is the Natural terrain. The Drops the Steeps the chutes and the seclusion of the mountain all make Plattekill #1 in my book.
No matter how hard MC tries to Dress up what little they have it will never amount to Plattekill.

I agree MC has a lot of potential. But...I don't think they have enough terrain under their belt yet. Especially when they close the trails that they used for the US open. That is one of the decisions that keep me driving an extra 2 hours to Plattekill. I think they should re open the US open course so the regulars that support the mountain weekly can have more options. Cut a new course for the next US open!

the reason the open course isn't open to us regulars because that wud give us east coast guys a HUGE advantage in the US Open, even though the race is mostly EC riders, thas jus how it is

What about all the racers that did not get to race this last time. Don't the people that did have an UNFAIR advantage over them in the next race? I know most mountains run the same old course race after race year after year but do any of you racers realy like that?
Hats off to Plattekill for cutting a new course every race for about ten years now! That is realy the only way to keep every one sharp and on top of their game. And expand the mountain at the same time.
Also it seems to me that no matter where you go to race Locals have an unfair advantage.
Again I would love to see a new course cut for the next US Open.

You ar kidding? Hats off for creating 1/2-assed, unfinished courses with uphill sections every race?.. You can tell not much time goes into planning and prepping the courses. THe US Open course was epic, and a step above any course pkill has ever done.
Oh and hats off to pkill for pocketing most of the registration fees paying pros limited cash and giving ams really lame prizes!! Pkill could host a major race and payout some big cash...Why dont they? ummm...one word...greed! First place at the US Open payed out more $$$ than all of the cash payouts for the entire Pkill series...
