Thats a good attention grabber in the mountain bike world. Many people have seen it attempted in the trailer for Union off a cliff. It crossed my sick little mind; what if you could do that from a lurch off a large wall. Crazy, dangerous, and I'm pretty sure its physically impossible, but the possibility intrigues me. I can't really decide. I mean when you do it off a cliff you can just slam your front brake and let your 8"+ travel pop you up and over. Piece of cake . But on a trials bike youd have to lurch out and and throw your self out and down. I dont think you could possibly get the rotation going from no speed, unless you were going off a 20 foot drop, in which case, you couldnt land it anyways, but that would be the coolest trick ever to have dialed. Of course until you mess up once and permafuck yourself, but we'll ignore that fact while this is still all theoretical. Disregarding risks and how you would learn how to do it, does anyone think it could be done?
Btw, if you think this post is stupid, I will always take comfort in the fact that i once saw a post asking how to mount a gyro on a double crown fork...

i bet you could learn it into a foam pit somewheres... i recall there being many a foam pit in many a skatepark that's right next to a very tall halfpipe... thus: deck -> frontflip -> foampit.
also i think it would be the funniest looking thing ever.
permafuck = best word ever

i'm not sure if you could do it from the rear wheel, but who knows, someone might pull it off. you sure won't see me trying that anytime soon. or crying about its absence from my life.

actually it would be easy (by easy i mean less impossible) to do it with a rigid fork off of a nose hop. like roll up to an edge, then get on your rear wheel, then hop to front wheel, and while youre on your front wheel you just throw all your weight forward and hope you keep spinning!

interesting...the only problem is that i was expecting people to tell me that it was impossible...now im just tempted. PS are there any foam pits in Massachussetts? I kno they have one at woodward... but thats a good ways away, and would they let mountain bikers who arent enrolled at the camp use it? Anyone know? This might be better suited to the park forum...

Ya they try that in Union, off the deck into the foam. I think it looks kinda funny when people try it.

Or a funny way to do them (not like there is a cool one to do one on a trials bike) but to just go to a really tall wall, balance on the rear wheel, make sure both brakes are locked, sit back and let the front wheel slowly come down....the just wait until your front wheel eventually just touches the wall, and lean a little forward....not quite a front flip, but I think it'll do the trick if anyone is dumb enough to try it.

Scotty Cramner Front flip turndown. Figure that one out. And if you want to do a front flip off a drop, just learn vander rolls.
