ok, so i'm planning on moving to vancouver, either just after new year, or sometime late may. i have an uncle there, but would rather not live with him, so it's either live alone, or sleep in the truck, cause i don't know anyone else there. here's the lowdown:

to quote lucky boys confusion, "i can't breathe this midwest air no more!" i would like to get deep enough into 4x/dh racing that i could get sponsored, and therefore be able to ride my bike for a living. i know that's kinda a pipe dream, but at least out there i'll have the opportunity, as there's really not much of that round here. also, from what i hear, there's a ton more bike-friendly sk8parks there. (meesa LOVE bmx!) that would be rather easier for me to get sponsored in, but hey, bmxer for 3 years, mtb for 13. not a difficult choice for where i'm going to direct my efforts!

the whole health insurance thing is sounding more appealing by the minute, being that it's ass-rippingly expensive here.

i'd rather deal with rain for 4 months straight than go through another crappy chicago winter, and hey, at least i hear the skiing/boarding's slightly better out there! Wink

and finally, i need to get out my 'rents house, need to get away from all the attitudes in this part of the country, and finally live my life the way i want to live it. (ie. being poor, and dh'ing till the end of my days)

now what i need are either helpful advice to smooth my transition, or reasons not to go. if possible, gimme an alternate place to live with the reason not to go. thanks all!

i can tell you one thing... becoming a canadian citizen aint easy. sure them fucks can come into the US w/o much problem and become US citizens pretty easy, but it doesnt work in reverse.

this is very true, but supposedly it's a lot easier to just become a permanent resident. if this all works out, hell, you can visit if you want! er... well, you can visit as long as you swear that i won't have to see any of the... odd things you like to post in the dirtbag! Smile

f**k you ass wipe! You think it's easier because of the "brain drain" which means in layman terms for your sake - because uneducated f**k wits like you are unemployable in any job that requires some skills and the proper attitude.

Yeah I don't think it is by ANY MEANS easier to get citizenship/residency in the US. My brother's GF is from Kelowna and she is having a bitch of a time getting any sort of work down here and has been unable to move down here without many unwanted loops and hassles. If you want to 'get out' of where you are and thing Vancouver is going to be the promise land, good luck with that, let us know how that goes for you and if you are able to work something out. But you could always go the US route and move to Bham, which is in WA and only about 45 mins south of Van or so. It's a college town which is good for some bad for others. But it's an option (plus it's got some decent parks and trails for bmx nearby-saying that because I saw your Ruben in your sig). MMike works there if I'm not mistaken, and from what I remember from his posts he's not a big fan of the area. But I like the area and would gladly take it over anywhere in the midwest

For a NZer it's easier to get a green card for the states than it is to get a work permit for canada.

exactly. its not too difficult to come to the states and get a green card pretty easily, or at least easier than just about any other place in the world. whatever these clowns above are talking about i dunno. just angry canadians w/ chips on their shoulders

i have 3 friends who came over from canada, phillipines, and prague. they all did it fairly easily. and are doing quite well.

ever look at canadas 6 -step program or something? its f**king rediculous. you basically have to be bill gates to qualify for that. or you just have to be something that canada is lacking and needs badly, then they take you in with open arms.

of course for either place all you have to do is shack up with someone and your in.

for all you candans with hard-ons in this thread.... "those fucks" wasnt meant as an insult. its just how i talk. so ease off and sip some tea.

another thing is funny is that 2 people who replied are canadians living in the US. Rolling Eyes there seems to be alot of Americans who want to live in canada, where are they?

oh and grommet: before you make any more of a jerkoff outta yourself know what the f**k you are talking about and know a little more about who u insult. moron.

One of my best buds just moved to Ottawa a few months ago. You can do what he did and meet a hot Jamaican/ German chick and marry her within 2 months of dating.
