all in all, i just get really frustrated with how much potential this sport has
Then do something about it.
Either DO something about it, or shut the shit up and stop constantly being a whiny little bitch.

im workin on it.
I had THE hardest time busting my ass totally off to MAKE SURE i got to the Rye Airfeild comp. Its unbeleivable what it took to convince my parents to let me go. They get so worried about me getting hurt, becoming addicted and wanting to do it more (too late), money, all that stuff.
I gave up the choice to go to Mt Snow in order to get to this comp, fortunantly my freinds dad took us up to that so i still got to go. But convincing my parents to let me go to BOTH those was a big project.
So basically, i wouldnt have missed that Rye Comp for the world because i felt that was a major step foward and that it was riders like myself that needed to be there, without all the great people that showed up nothin woulda come out of it.
I get alota kids that email me n whatnot that live around here that are just startin ridin. Instead of bein a dick i try to really give them a chance and push em on. Thats largley in part because older people (seth alex george n that gang) have put up with me and its helped me grow into a whole new rider. Its cool to be able to pass that same thing on now.
Theres more than just pitchin in at races or joining clubs to help this sport...

i dont really see what there is to complain about, i mean shit, i can go out and buy a hardtail spec'd out completly for street, or DJ or racing or whatever the hell i want, then i can go ride street, djs race or whatever the hell else i want to do with it. personally, i dont like a whole lot of emphasis on the racing scene. i prefer just chilling and crusing around town riding street or goin down to the dirtjumps and dicking around over this whole racing thing. i know people who are the complete oppisite, but thats why we have to have a happy medium. i think that mtb is going to follow alot the trend that bmx went through, racing then freestyle and racing and then great progression on both parts. you dont even have to volunteer at a race, just go out and ride, people will see you and who knows, maybe theyll start mtbing and tell a friend to start, who will get another friend hooked and so on and so forth. but basically, shit doesnt get done unless you do it yourself. you(mini) seem to be doing fine, building sickass DJs and posting pics on the internet to get other people into it. just quit whining and wait and watch. things will happen.

I was gonna type more on the whole DH and resort issue but ill prolly get bitched out anyways. Whats all ur oppinions on this? I pretty much just think most of the mtb world needs to get off their asses and take this sport where it can go. Most of the problem lies within the racing organizations and resorts for not building real stuff to ride. No reason riders cant take more charge as in other sports like skating and bmx.
Its so easy to picture mtb being just as popular as bmx or snowboarding in 7 years and people goin OFF left and right. But at the same time, its just as easy to picture it in the SAME EXACT spot it is now. (*end rant and duck for beating*)
I guess you've never been to Whistler...Richie Schley built a trail, there is a jump park and sooo many trails it just plain rocks. They are building more trails and will have a second lift open next year. SO SHUT THE f**k UP! And if you don't think things are progressing fast enough do something like approach your local resort with a business plan and not a bunch of whining.
Oh yeah, don't EVER come to Whistler

our dirt jumps arent on our land. The forest here is REALLY tight on bikes, let alone trying to organize a race. On our 'secret' trails we cover them up with logs and trees after every time ridin.
This post wasnt really ment to get people bent outta shape, just to get ya thinkin about where the sport lies now. Then again... basically everything i say on here gets ranked on
how bout a jump comp..... you guys know how to build jumps, and if you could convince the council (this is where you need a club backing you) to let you host in in a public square or something, you could have an awesome event. racing is incredibly hard to organise well, for a few reasons:
- getting permission to use land
- insurance
- timing
as far as i know, if you can organise an event on behalf of a club (ie officially they're hosting it), they should have liability insurance which covers pretty much everything. timing isn't an issue, and you don't need anything like the amount of land or appropriate terrain to hold a jump comp..... just a couple of piles of dirt, and maybe a roll-in (you guys have already built a wooden rollin haven't ya?).
as far as really hard bits in racecourses go, i reckon the more the merrier, as long as a chicken line is provided. only on one trail that i've ridden have i not done all the hardest lines (and that was only one drop), i love to be challenged. even if i don't hit it first time around, i will eventually. i want big road gaps, gnarly steeps, and slowspeed techy drops, but chicken lines for those who can't yet do em. we need to challenge the good riders yet encourage the novices, and short of having two courses for everything, chicken lines or rollable doubles are the way to go.
oh yeah, and quit whining.

i was thinking EXACTLY of whistler when talkin about this. Thats a perfect role model for what places can really do with their land (resorts). U dont even necisarily need a big mountain, if theres a lift its good.
And a dirt jump comp would be mighty cool, i wonder if Rye airfeild would be up for somethin like that?
And axel... right on
Complaining and bitching about something without offering solutions or working to solve the problem = whining.
His initial post was whining.

Yeah, but it's gonna suck, because MTBs suck, and BMX sucks, and everything sucks except for my dirtjumps...
Can anyone guess who I'm pretending to be?
What're you working on?
