The fun part about the older courses was that they were almost on a rotation. Like for example the october courses were always the same. it would be great to use some of the older courses and as a new twist here and there. I think alot of us could also benefit by taking even an hour to two to do some trail work to help maintain the trails. I'll be the first to admit that while I love riding the trails I could def. do my fair share of helping to maintain them. Even if it just means bringing up a shovel or prewalking the course with some spare tape to help maintain the integrity of everything.

o man that would be sweet. then it dumps you out on the ski trail and you could have a long fast part. we rarely have fast courses. i think theyd be fun

Matt, Justin and myself designed a beginner race course for the race weekend. if Laz does agree to use it then the beginners and first timers will be all set for the race weekend on may 4/5. the course is fast, fun and flowey with some sweet singletrack at the top and bottom. it should be a blast if laz agrees to use this course. the sport+ riders will be on a completly separate course so the beginners and first timers can practice w/o being worried about getting run over.

i just hope laz is willing to allow joe, matt, justin and myself tape up two courses for this weekend because it will require a lot of tape.

I was thinking about a beginner course...
Well if u know like one of the races back in 2004 (September i think) where the course went behind the shed onto the really flat section. (There was like a drop directly behind the shed like 2 or 3 feet)
I was thinking about putting a trail like kinda there but u would ride on the ski trail and cut in. Its pretty easy and I had a shit load of fun on it.
I'm sure beginners could start off taking it slow and then get used to it more and more.

It would also draw alot of beginners into the sport because nomatter what skill level you are that course could be fun.

hey guys i know this isn't relative to the beginners topic, but on the line of classes...
this weekend is gonna be my first dh race and i'm still between doing sport and expert (i know i'd be sandbaggin' in beginner) and i was hoping you could give me an idea of what the differences between the two classes are, in terms of the trails/terrain/drops/etc? are there a lot of fast, somewhat smooth sections, or is it mostly steep, rocky chutes, etc? that kind of info. any help you could toss my way would be appreciated.

there is going to be one detour for the sport riders, it just goes around a little tech singletrack section. as for the rest of the course, nothing too stupid. it is the first race of the season so we tried to make the course fairly chill and fun.

i was speaking more in general terms for the season, not just the first race, but thanks for the info.
...and what exactly makes this "tech singletrack"?

it is just a sketchy chute that most would freak out on. the race courses differ from race to race. i'm noit sure what the next months course will be. the first race is a relitivly easy and flowey style course to start the season off on a good note.

sketchy chute? meh. i hit broken tooth a few times this past weekend and nothing on that really sketched me out; granted i didn't do the drops, but I'm not trying to get myself hurt at the begining of the season just for some hucking.
