I think I'll either pick up the Profile or the DMR, I can get the DMR here so I'll check that out this week.

I'll probably cut my bars to 24", im grabbing my bars at that width now and I'd like to grab a little closer.

Don, that would be cool if you could post up some photos of your setup. thanks.

Ahaha, if you had posted ANY stem basically other than a thomson I'd have said it was nice, but I've seen the thomsons on bikes and they arnt my cup of tea Confused

I do like atomlab stems though!

try the Tioga cube fairly cheap and looks exactly like the stem you runnig.

Why would I buy a cube stem when I already have an awesome snafu stem? I just want to change my bar, not my stem.

All you people with your weird, narrow, high-rise bars.

I should talk though... I have an Azonic 2.5er on my BigHit... too tall, and wrong color. Will be replaced soonly. 2 seasons on it.
Specialized riser (1.5", 26" wide) for the P.3 and singlespeedzors. Love those bars.

I'll say it again: SNAFU stems are awesome.

My bars aren't high. They're 2" I think, but my stem has almost no rise, and it's got no spacers under it.

terrible generalization on my part, sorry

it's just that every time i think of cut-down bars, even though i have a set of cut-down mtb risers in the garage, i see in the mind's eye some 7" rise bmx bars cut down so the brake lever is below the bend. it's a fad around here or something.

holy moly, i'd better go to bed so i can get up early tomorrow and ride for the hour and a half of riding time i'll be getting this weekend.

not bitter. really.

my bar is a 2" rise, but my stem is basically a negative rise. ehee.
I dont like the chopperish feel of widebars either, its freaky. I like my bikes to feel twitchy, so thats why my forks are going down to 3"

Short travel forks = fantasy land when dirtjumping and stuff. Soooooo little energy lost in the suspension. Wanna hear about how it works from both a yas.

Do narrow bars make anyone else's back hurt? Or is it just that I'm 6'1" and riding a ~13" frame? I dunno it kinda went away with the wider bars.

Haven't noticed any problems since I switched.

When I first got my BMX, my back hurt like HELL the first 2 times I rode it, and now I don't have any pain.

Yeah, I guess it's really more of a lower back strain thing where all the forces up from the pedals while pulling up on the bars kinda concentrate right on the lower back there. This would also be a good time to mention that every male in my dad's side of the family has uber-tweaky backs... bulging discs, wacky slouching, etc.

Anybody up for a gene trade? I'll throw in a couple of innertubes or something if you send me some super good spine shaping genes.

I have a Amoeba on my AC2 and my Norco250. No problems with slipage unless you have a crap stem. It's tough, thick walled and cheap..works for me.
Oh yeah... those overpriced Thompsons... are ugly. I like the short Azonic rip off I have.

One more thing. I'm running my bars at 26" and at first they felt wierd but I can't ride anything narrower since being on 26" bars, not the same control.

Would the Thomson be ugly if you had one? Baha.

The Azonic ripoffs actually work really well... superb success on 2 friends' bikes. I suppose if I had to go get a short stem right now, that would be it.

I agree on the narrower bars giving less control, but it was an excellent experiment. Now we know!

Holy moly, Piper, that's a long time on one set of bars.

Did you fill them with cement for maximum stiffness?
