plazmatic pads rock. i've got an older pair (red compound, blue metal backing) for my mags which have been in service for 3-4 yrs. they aren't super in the wet, but in teh dry, look out. way more power than any disk brake i've ever tried. just use simple green on yr rims every once in a while and you are set.

--------well if u have maguras get the yellow ones. the clear ones r for taring and grinding. they r worth every penny. make sure they r centered propperly to ur rim. u dont want them to wear un even.

I think I'll grab some of the yellow ones. Is the $45 pricetag for 4 pads (2 front, 2 back) or is it just a set of 2?

if you let the tar sit too long it will eventually dry up and your brakes just suck. It might be good to smooth it out, if your not going to ride for a while, with a razor blade or something like that and then pile more on later. On biketrials.com they say to "spray the rim with windex, then ride around with your brakes almost locked, and it will turn the tar into a liquid that you can whipe off with a paper towel"

I'm going to guess you all playing with tar all run maguras. If you really want to rid yourself of tar, just get a quality pair of v-brakes.

Or you could just stop hopping around on your wheel like a f**king doofus
P says:
aha yes
I used to run the old school LX v-brakes with the stock LX levers, never needed any tar. Quality levers like the avids with the speed dial adjuster and non paralel push brakes make all the difference.
