Can somebody possibly post some pics of the new dual slalom course when it's finished. I would like to see it before I make a decision on whether or not to make the trip up there for the race this weekend.

Thanks,

GR

George,

I was ther this weekend riding. I don't have pics, but the course seemed rough. The jumps are small for the most part. It really was very soft due to the huge rain, but with a good raking, maybe it will be worth it. sorry i don't have more for you.

Brennan

The July mountain bike race at Plattekill featured the return of the original DS, old school 2 lane, a course strategically designed by Tom Oakes, last years slalom champ. The beauty of the run is that it is truly a slalom course synchronized perfectly for dual racing and challenges the racer to exacting turns coupled with daredevil speed. In fact, one of the heats was timed to 1/1000 of a second at the finish.

And to make things easier and less fatiguing, the course is situated permanently on the beginner ski run (to the left of the old T bar). Even Mary Oakes, Tom's wife, climbed the course 10 times and said the climb was easy on the legs unlike the old 4-cross slalom on the triple chair side which had numerous back breaking turns and jumps plus the grueling climb back up to the starting line.

The slalom welcomed the return of several racers including Jay deJesus and Steven Day and his younger brother. This course is sleek and built
for sharp downhill turns and speed. Try it. It is now a permanent fixture so all riders can practice any time.

All are invited to participate, young and old, male and female.. Come on back and experience the return of the true dual slalom at Plattekill
