i just returned from Spring MT PA. i have nothing but good things to say. the race promoter Jay Schwartz / mt perk, was a great person to deal w/. i met many volonteers, (Jay's henchmen), that were equaly cool. the berms are long and steep. u definatly can get horozonatal in um. there were very little or no brakes required for the berms. they held u that well. i would definatly compare it to a bmx track. yes it was that smooth. also LIFT ASSISTED SLALOM!!! NO WALKING!!! . so all u north east slalom racers. u MUST check this place out. these guys got here shit together! http://www.springmountain-fun.com

damn, I was pretty bummed about missing that race yesterday - (I was in the city sat nite for my anniversary - although I did get some shovel time at my trails)
Do you know if there are any more races there this year? I know it's going start getting colder soon. From what I've heard the DS course is rad.
There are two more races for this year. Jay was saying yesterday that they might run two races in one day to make up for the one that got cancelled. Well have to see though. It was a good time though. Don how is the digging going. We are trying now to find a new spot to dig but havent found anywhere yet. We are going to Mercer tomorrow if your interested though. There are still acouple of jumps out there and its pretty fun. Let me know

hey, this is Keith right? hows it been going? diggin @ the new spot is going pretty well. I think if we have a mild winter things will be full on for spring. Some of the stuff looks pretty big.
I stopped by Mercer a few weeks ago. Looks like you guys did some more work there. I rode w/ these younger kids that know you. Place was fun.
Why are you guys looking for a new spot? It seems the setup at Mercer is pretty good or are you getting slack from the park? I did notice little "J"s on the trees - thinking the park is designating that spot as the jump area?
thanks for the invite but I've been swamped during the week. I'll have to take a raincheck. Hope to ride with you guys soon.
na just the kids there keep ripping the jumps apart plus we are looking for somewhere that we can go bigger. The J's on the tree are from the cross country runners.

Yo! Let me know when you are riding/digging at Mercer next - I'm living with my gf in Plainsboro not far from there and I'd like to help if I can.

Rumor-mill: Next year, they might put the DS course on the beginner slope, which would allow them to bring in some dirt to build the course. The problem with Plattekill is the mountain IS rocks - if you removed the ones on top, it just exposes the ones below...

i like it but it is far too expensive for me to race it every time i go there. i usually just cruise it when free riding

------- i really hope that is true. i do like plattekill's slalom course but the rocks r shitty. also it is not maintained at all. not even to rake out the water erosion. i also hope this happens cause it 2 hrs to plattekill for me. that big hole shit has to go too, thats just stupid.

Hey, what's the turnout usually like for Spring Mtn's slalom? I raced Underdog DH there this summer, and there was only 4 people in my class. Nothing wrong with that, but a 4 man entry slalom race would be over pretty quick I would think. Do they break the skill levels up by age? I just raced DS for the first time at the last Plattekill, and it was the most fun I've had all year. The only shitty things were all the walking and how impossible is to get a pass in after the first corner. If I do go to the next Spring, you can bet I'll be doin both events. Lift assisted DS, here I come!

------hey man, well i went to one race. i had a blast! there were prob 2 dozen of us? i would call Jay Schwartz. he can give u real #'s. i will be w/o a doubt doing the whole series next year. i will make the Nov race also. i also drive 4 hrs to get there. plattekill is 2 hrs away. i will attend more races there when lazlo takes batter care of the slalom course.
