Another Plattekill race in the books...I have just begun to wonder if there is a way to make the courses a bit better...Now don't get all crazy on me...I appreciate all the work that Hudson and the boys have done so far, but:

1. Are we spending too much time going a accross the mountain on really off camber stuff that kills the flow of the course?

2. Could Laz let the course out a few weeks in advance to let it get burned in better....By the time my race run was happening, much of the course was shot(shale burm?)...maybe with more time to R+D the course, it would be in better shape....

Again, thanks to the course designers for the donation of their time and effort....This is not meant to shit on you guys, just a way to make the courses a little better...

BTW, the bottom section of the last course was one of the best ever....Fast, flowy, etc...

Whadda you guys think...

Brennan

bottom was unbelievable....part RIGHT before the bottom, was not unbelievable. My ONLY gripe is that they've been changing the course on sunday for sport racers which is a crock of shit. I spent all day saturday riding the course and memorizing it, just to have it changed on me the next day. EIther make some sport lines that are easy enough so people dont bitch about, or even if people do bitch, dont change it at all, end of story. and yeah itd be nice if the courses were allowed to get "burned in" a few weeks before hand

Yeah seriously, It changed alot by race time on Sunday.
I came out of one section up top and then didnt know where to go, didnt know whether to go down the fire road or drop in somewhere, the tape was blowing in the wind on the floor.
Hesitated there for a few, and yeah I loved the Rock burm they built late saturday which was gone late Sunday.

I still had fun even though I lost my rear brake about 50 feet in to the race, had hydro fluid squirting out my resuvoir.

you gotta love an uphill section on off-cambered wet slick roots!

Always fun!

no reason to change sport stuff. some time u just gotta set the pride to the side get off and walk it if u cant ride. also i am a sport racer. i would b wicked pissed if they changed a course. also at platty, i have never seen anything ina sport/beg section that wasent rideable.

The sport course could have used about 200 less roots...

Hudson had nothing to do with the creation of the July race course.

It was designed by Laszlo's local course building crew.

I think they are cutting trails/riding 7 days a week and shuttling up to the top by pickup truck.

Actually it was Built by a few guys I know from NY and NJ. I didnt get to see the course this time around and from what ive heard it was standard Plattekill course building and much tamer than Erik's courses.

east coast, there were parts that a beg rider definately couldnt do. yea they made one change that i didnt know about, so i took the harder, slower, longer line and fell as opposed to the shorter, faster, smoother line.

originally, a complete course was built for beginners and sport riders, but lazlo changed it to one course with split sections. I received this info from one of the guys that was helping built the past two weekends b4 the race. I was a good course in my opinion. the middle section was just rediculous though. short tight shoots with quick turns just sucked. and the uphill that they put in the sport course was just stupid, but i think there would have been a drop off to the left, so they cut right and made an uphill. all we can hope for, is the perfect course we've been waiting for. In my opinion the North Face side sucks. Time to race Ledges or something else with lots of FLOW.

bwahahah. the north face has so much potential. it is brand f**king new. give it a hot 3 or 4 months to break in before you decide to trash it. have u ridden all the trails on that side that arent the race courses? they are awesome trails. the fireroad is sick, eriks course is sick. even this last course wasnt so bad.

i guess there is no pleasing everyone. someone is always going to bitch. its plattekill, its tough. deal with it or dont race.

During my first practice on Sunday I was pissed about the course change, especially that one split that wasn't marked properly and I headed off the sport course onto the hardest part of the expert course, but after a few more runs I said "it's all good", it's all new trails on the NF so suck it up!

I DONT TRUELY HATE THE NEW NORTH FACE SIDE, ITS JUST THAT WHY CANT A COURSE BE BUILT THAT IS ABLE TO BE RIDDEN FOR A WHOLE WEEKEND. THE LAST TWO RACE, WHICH HAPPEN TO BE THE FIRST TWO COURSES ON THE NEW MTN SIDE, HAVE REQUIRED MAJOR CHANGES. DONT GET ME WRONG, THE NORTH FACE HAS P10 AND THE LOWER TRAIL AFTER P10 IS AWESOME. EVERYTHING BUILT THERE, PROBABLY WILL NEED TILL NEXT YEAR TO SETTLE IN. THEN WHEN WE GO BACK NEXT MAY, THE NORTH FACE SIDE TRAILS WILL REALLY KICK ASS.
